Egyptian revival belt buckle

Description: At the top of the rectangular buckle is a winged scarab, while the sides have a stylized lotus decoration. In the center are two prongs for attachment to a textile belt. The buckle was made by R. Blackinton & Co., a North Atteboro firm that produced sterling silver hollowware, noveltites, and jewelry. They created several adornments and accessories in the Egyptian revival style.

Provenance/Ownership History: Until 1990, Mrs. Joan J. Ehrhard, Milford, DE; 1990, inherited from Mrs. Ehrhard by her daughter, Yvonne J. Markowitz, Framingham, MA; 2008 gift from Markowitz to MFA (October 22, 2008).
