Provenance/Ownership History: 1806, Alexander Nixon Montgomery and Henrietta Stafford, Ireland (original commission) [see note 1]; by descent within the family to Anna C. Bright (b. 1889 - d. 1985), Saugus, MA [see note 2]; by descent to her daughter, Frances Bright Berrett (b. 1920), Rockport, MA; given to her son, John C. Berrett (b. 1948), Chicago; 2009, gift of John C. Berrett to the MFA. (Accession Date: September 16, 2009) NOTES: [1] It is believed that this teapot was a gift to Alexander Montgomery and Henrietta Stafford on the occasion of their wedding in 1806. It is engraved with the Montgomery crest and the initials ANM for Alexander Nixon Montgomery. [2] Anna C. Bright was the niece of Alexander Nixon Montgomery's second wife, Mary Lane. The teapot was passed down through Alexander Randall William Montgomery (b. 1878 - d. 1966).
