Description: The necklace consists of nine large beads on viton rubber cord. The beads may be placed in a sculptural group when not worn as a necklace. For each bead, Premo and Sculpey polymer clay was layered amd sculpted in the basic form and then cured. The form was then colored with permanent inks and pencils, then layered over with thin sheets of translucent polymer embedded with either gold leaf, millefiore designs, and/or glitter. It was then cured again. After sanding, each bead was polished with a buffing wheel to bring out a shallow depth of surface. Then the hands, feet, and faces were sculpted, cured separately, and glued into place with cyanoacrylate glue.

Provenance/Ownership History: Between 2002 and 2009, created by the artist Kathleen Dustin of Contoocook, NH; gift of Dustin to the MFA (Accession date: September 16, 2009)
