Description: Plaster relief sculpture with an ebonized wood frame with copper repousse liner and terra cotta colored velvet surround. Intaglio, hollow relief double portrait of a man and a woman.

Provenance/Ownership History: Early history unknown; probably owned in Utica, New York in 1937 (see note); May 17, 2009, purchased by Andrew Spindler-Roesle at Northeast Auctions; 2009, gift of Spindler-Roesle to the MFA. Note: Newspaper found inside the frame (from past restoration/reframing) is the Utica Observer-Dispatch dated Friday, February 19, 1937.
