Description: Black cotton hanging appliqued and embroidered with symbols of the rulers of Benin in polychrome cotton. Red cotton border machine sewn to right and left edges.

Provenance/Ownership History: About 1970, acquired at a street market in Dahomey (now Republic of Bénin) by Mr. and Mrs. Stephen Krom, Côte d’Ivoire and Swampscott, MA; 2012, gift of the Kroms to the MFA. (Accession date: April 25, 2012)
