| Boston Festival of Films from Iran Film Song of Sparrows 7:45 pm Friday, November 7, 2008 Remis Auditorium
The Song of the Sparrows by Majid Majidi (2008, 96 min.). In this deeply humanistic story, a rural ostrich farmer, Karim, is fired from his job and must move his family to Tehran to look for work. Due to a mistake in identity, he finds himself behind the wheel of a taxi cab. The people and material goods that he deals with on daily basis starts to transform Karim’s generous and honest nature, much to the distress of his wife and daughters. It is up to those closest to him to restore the values that he had once cherished. Critic Alissa Simon says The Song of the Sparrows is “a beautifully crafted, often sentimental, sometimes humorous picture” (Variety). Director will receive an ILEX Award before the screening. In Farsi with English subtitles.
