DescriptionVeil for Communion vessels. Eastern Orthodox Church. The baby Jesus, on a patten, a chalice and the Bible (?) all on an altar over which a canopy is supported by four columns and a censer is suspended. Standing on either side the Archangels Gabriel and Michael. All metallic yarns except flesh and hair areas being silk worked in split stitch; on a red satin silk ground. Narrow metallic silk and linen yarn tape border. Tassel pendant from three of the corners.
