A man’s wedding waistcoat of white satin with small bee embroidered with white silk all-over ground, roll back collar, with slight lapel notch, two slash pockets on left front, on one right, embroidered buttons in whirling sun design worked with white silk and metal thread (now tarnished black), back and lining of white cotton twill; in ink on lining of back: S. Fowler, Esq.

Provenance

Worn by Samuel Fowler, 1820-1888, married Sara Maria Jones in 1848, father of donors.
