Obv: coat of arms supported by a spread eagle. DO RIGHT AND FEAR NO MAN. Rev: Name of medal. Bronze with ring. The Motto is inspired by the inscription upon one of George Washington’s dress swords. On the shield held together by the Sword of War and supported by the American Eagle with the ideals of the 13 original states (the stars on the border), we see Great Britain and her colonies (the ship) divided by water from the Latin races, France (the rooster) Italy (the cross of Savoy) and Montenegro (the Lion’ls head). To the right the Russian Bear breaks out towards the sea and the Belgian Lion appeals to England and France. The E’s are the first 4 letters of Serbia’s motto “Union creates strength” and the Rising Sun is Japan’s insignia. N. E. Branch, American Fund for French Wounded.
