Top of shaped valance, made from silk tapestry (kesi) court costume, with design of three dragon roundels surrounded by auspicious clouds, bats, fans, vases and other auspicious symbols in light yellow, green, blue and red silk and gold thread on a dark blue silk ground, edged on two sides with key fret pattern; border on three sides with design of dragon roundels and auspicious symbols in gilt paper strip discontinuous supplementary patterning wefts on a dark blue satin ground; band along top and backing are of pale peach plain-weave cotton of linen.
