This silver plaque in the form of a lion’s head was one of a pair that once formed part of an elaborately decorated horse harness. It’s mate is MFA 21.1815.

Provenance

From Meroe (Beg. N), pyramid 16 (tomb of Aryesbokhe). 1921: excavated by the Harvard University–Boston Museum of Fine Arts Expedition; assigned to the MFA in the division of finds by the government of Sudan.
