DescriptionSemi-circular ash arm/back in three sections joined by mortise and tenon joints. Saddle-shaped ash seat with projections on front edge of sides. Ash is wire-brushed and finished with tung oil. Projections on either side of seat joined to ends of arm/back with steel bolts with flush tops. Hand-wrought iron frame consisting of a single back stile/leg and two front legs. Two side stretchers from an arc upward from the slightly splayed front feet to the back leg. Center stretcher joins side stretchers. Frame blackened with baked-on linseed oil.
Marks
Marks: branded "Nigel Coates/London" under seat toward front. Stamped number 7. Branded with maker's mark "Julius hyde" within a rectangle, under seat near back center.
