Provenance

Sold by the estate of a private collector in Barbados to Howard M. and Wendy L. Ecker, Brookline, MA; 1986, year-end gift of Howard M. and Wendy L. Ecker to the MFA. (Accession Date: January, 21, 1987)

NOTE: At the time of the Eckers' purchase, there was a rectangular void on the crest rail, suggesting that the chair once bore a plaque. Local historians advised that the chair might have come from one of the parliament buildings of Barbados, where a plaque would have included the name of a representative or marked a commemoration of some sort.
