Italian, late 16th century band. Natural color linen or cotton ground, gauze-woven, embroidered with gold, silver and polychrome silk threads in split and satin stitches and couching. Pattern shows a wide central band with an undulating vine, the curved segments filled with flowers or lions, grape clusters and acorns. narrow borders show acorn sprigs. Long sides trimmed with narrow gold lace and lavender silk tufts. Some of the black outlining threads have disappeared.
