French, Chantilly, second half 19th century. Black lace veil; deeply scalloped edges formed by rosettes and leaves in swags; ground above edge divided into separate area for each large scallop by scrolling and looping ornamental bands, in each of these areas a spray or swag of flowers; ribbon drawstring made into bobbin lace pattern of minute rosettes; a number of small holes and breaks.
