The design of conventional plant forms is joined by various à jours and partially outlined with coarse linen thread. On the paper envelope in which this lace had been kept was written “Will my cousin Sally make dear Polly a pair of cuffs out of this “wee bit” of lace, rendered invaluable by having been worn by mrs. Gen. Washington, from Cousin Salina.”
