A taupe taffeta bonnet trimmed with cording and black lace, white lace ruching around face and under brim with bunches of minute lilies of the valley and purple double violets, narrow black satin ribbon ties at tips of brim, broad taupe taffeta ribbon streamers in center front, at top of brim a rosette of pinked self taffeta.
Worn with dress (54.1015) by donor's grandmother, Clarissa Harlowe Lewis (Mrs. Stephen Smith), born 1802, of Chatham, Mass. Gift to the MFA, 1954
