Jacket: blue silk velvet trimmed with black/blue silk ribbon at hem and cuffs, lined with blue silk ribbon at hem and cuffs, lined with blue silk; corded acorn button front closure; two detached white cotton cut-work cuffs. Cap: blue silk velvet with silk cord binding; silk ribbon bow and two tassels on left; glazed kid strap on visor fastened with two jet buttons; red painted cotton headband, pink silk lining (discolored) attached to crown in 8-pointed star. Worn by Edward Howard Hutchinson (1852-1938 of Buffalo, N. Y., grandfather of Ganson Purcell.
