Cap: blue silk velvet with silk cord binding; silk ribbon bow and two tassels on left; glazed kid strap on visor fastened with two jet buttons; red painted cotton headband, pink silk lining (discolored) attached to crown in 8-pointed star. Worn by Edward Howard Hutchinson (1852-1938 of Buffalo, N. Y., grandfather of Ganson Purcell.
