Nine-columned kesa with decoration of peonies. Columns, dividing bands, border, shiten: red silk ground with figured patterns of peonies and clouds. The peonies alternate with large cloud patterns in horizontal bands, with additional cloud roundels in the open spaces. When sewn into a kesa, individual pieces were inscribed with the numbers one through nine in ink. Only the fragment labeled with the number nine has been reversed. Niten: none. Lining: none.
