DescriptionThe Gissha-rô or Kyûsha-rô was another name for the elegant brothel known as the Bizen-ya, in the market town next to the Ise Shrine. The identification of the artist as an Edo artist suggests that the print may have been marketed in the town it depicts, as well as in Edo.
