Inscription

MARKS: on each corner, underside of base, maker's mark BI with a crown above and a bird below (like Grimwade 178); lion's head erased; Britannia; date letter c (1698/9).
ARMORIALS: engraved on the base, arms of Grey, Earl of Stamford, impaling Maynard.
SCRATCHES: engraved on the underside of the base, "Bere Alston," "17-11".
