DescriptionOne of a set of four candlesticks. Cast, with molded, welled octagonal base rising to an octagonal baluster stem and knop. Stem terminated in a campana nozzle.
Marks
Maker's Mark: a crowned fleur-de-lis, two grains, TM, with an undeciphered device between. Christie's says that the mark is that of Martin, making the device a vase or an urn. His mark is described but not illustrated in Nocq, p. 206. Warden's Mark: a crowned I, also not illustrated but it corresponds in form to the previous and following year's Warden's marks. Charge Mark: 1697-1704:an A with a scepter and a hand of justice (Dennis, 79). Other: mark for old work, 1798(?): a hatchet (Tardy, p. 166).
InscriptionsEngraved crest in the well depicts a hand holding three flowers.
