Late 1940s: believed to have been purchased at Hôtel Drouot, Paris, by a private collector, Palm Beach, Florida; December 6, 2006, sold by Sotheby's, New York, sale N08253, lot 66, to Rupert Wace, London, England; 2008: purchased by the MFA from Rupert Wace. (Accession date: September 17, 2008)
