DescriptionThis limestone lid to a canopic jar has been shaped as the head of a baboon (representing Hapy, one of the Four Sons of Horus, protectors of the viscera of the deceased). Features include a tapering, protruding snout and semi-circular eyes. The eyebrows have been chipped. Surfaces are well smoothed with good modeling. No traces of applied color remain. The lid is in generally good condition.
