This cellaret, for cooling wine bottles, descended in the Sargent family. It is depicted in the lower left corner of Henry Sargent’s “The Dinner Party,” exhibited in this gallery.

Said to be the object depicted in Henry Sargent's painting, The Dinner Party; by descent in the Sargent family to the donors; lent to the Museum by them May 13, 1969, and converted to a gift in 1975 (Accession Date: January 14, 1976)
