This closed box clasp was made for either a bracelet or necklace. It consists of a faceted, octagonal, bezel-set sheet of rock crystal over a partial pink foil (largely missing). In the center is a rectangle of finely woven blond hair that suggests the clasp was a mourning ornament. On each side of the clasp is a row of five loops which were probably used to attach a series of chains or strands of pearls.
