Commemorative fan of Lafayette. Painted white silk leaf. Obverse: center medallion of Fame with tricolor sash holding wreath and blowing horn, blue and painted “sequin” border; crossed French and American flags with liberty cap on staff tied with ribbon to sides; floral motifs between; monogram “E D” (Elizabeth Derby, Salem?) to outsides; decorative border, painted “sequins”, colored foil and gilt details. Reverse: appliqued blue painted leaves. Narrow silvered band at top. Ivory sticks decorated with glit-silver. Diamond paste studs in rivet.
