NOTES:
[1] In a letter from 1881 between Jones, McDuffee and Stratton ("crockery, china, and glass warehouse on Federal Street, Boston) and Charles G. Loring, the Boston firm requested that Josiah Wedgwood and Sons donate this piece, "and they cheerfully granted it, as a representative piece of their skill." A copy of the letter is in the file and the original is in the archives.
