The box is made of soft brown wood and is incised with a series of circles. A similar box is located in the British Museum (Registration number: 1902,1011.98). These boxes were usually used to hold objects of personal adornment.

Provenance

From the Fayoum. 1902: excavated by the Egypt Exploration Fund, assigned to the EEF in the division of finds by the Egyptian government; voted to the MFA at EEF general meeting.
