DescriptionOne of a set (with 65.1846-1847a-b). Each cup is cylindrical in form and tapers slightly at the base to form the footring. The ear-shaped handle has foliate terminals. The saucer is in the shape of a shallow bowl. The three cups and saucers are decorated with a pale turquoise (petit verd) ground and the reserves are painted with birds in landscapes. Each reserve is framed by tooled gilt flowers and scrolls. The rims of the cups and saucers are decorated with gilt dentil bands, the footrings of the cups bear simple gilt bands, and the handles of the cups are decorated with gilding at the shoulder, along the sides, and at the foliate terminals.
