Royal blue ground. Cup has almost straight sides curving to baseband with line of gold. Gilded scalloped edge. Gilt ellipse on front has shepherd and shepherdess in fairly strong colors, band of gilt with twining foliage near rim. White handles. Shepherd on saucer, flute lesson on cup.

Markings

Interlaced Ls enclosing date letter P; painter's mark "ch" below, in blue enamel. Incised S. Cup has painter's mark as above, incised "S" and "JC"
