Darning or running stitch sampler. Square central compartment with a stylized basket above the initials “HGM”. Flanking this is the word “ANNO” and the date 18–. Surrounding are characteristic cross-like motifs with geometric and linear filling patterns, plus various vases, baskets and urns etc.; some containing initials. In each corner is a repeating simple sun design with a pair of initials. Slightly stained and soiled; some colors have run. Stitches: cross, eyelet, marking cross, pattern darning, simple darning.
