Reproductions of and impressions from prints of various artists; decorative frontispieces, vignettes; author portrait. Second edition of Basan's dictionary; the first was 1767. It contains 50 etchings and/or engravings (printed on 43 leaves), primarily impressions from plates in Basan's publishing stock, including Rembrandt's Pancake Woman (vol. 2, facing p. 122), and one of Castiglione's oriental heads (v. 1, facing p. 126). In addition, vol. 1 contains a frontispiece by Langlois after Cochin and two vignettes by Choffard; vol. 2 contains a frontispiece by Pierre and a vignette by Choffard containing a portrait of Basan.
