DescriptionThis is a very well formed, thick circular lid. It is not fully clear whether it was shaped by wearing a fragment of a blackware pottery vessel (as some were) or if it was made deliberately as a lid.
ProvenanceFrom Kerma, Cemetery S, Tumulus X or subsidiary burial. 1914: excavated by the Harvard University–Boston Museum of Fine Arts Expedition; assigned to the MFA in the division of finds by the government of the Sudan.
