DescriptionOf purple and white plaid pina cloth; bodice trimmed with ruffle of same pina cloth bound in black velvet, sleeves full (caught at upper, mid and lower arm with band of pina cloth bound with black velvet), deep ruffle at lower edge of skirt of pina cloth and bound in black velvet buttons down center of bodice. Dress belonged to Mrs. James T. Furness who was married in Washington in 1838 and who spent her early married life in Philadelphia.
