DescriptionDress of black, white and gray striped taffeta with black ikat design; small ikat spot on body of dress, fronts of bodice and skirt and borders of sleeves ikat spot with larger octagonal ikat arranged in horizontal rows; black velvet buttons down front of bodice and on pockets and center back of bodice. Dress belonged to Mrs. James T. Furness who was married in Washington in 1838 and who spent her early married life in Philadelphia.
