Embroidered camisa (woman's blouse)
Object Place: Philippine
Not On View
This camisa is of pina embellished with embroidery and drawn work. It was made in Manila about 1800 by a Filipina for a Mestiza. Even Spanish ladies often wore the cool and comfortable camisa in the house. It is not starched and is a fine specimen of old work, being in good condition for its age. Note the narrow sleeves, and the way they are set in.
Gift to MFA on November 13, 1941.
Gift of Miss Laura Slocum and Mr. William H. Slocum in the name of their sister Miss Anna D. Slocum
