DescriptionLinen plain with wool embroidery in nearly symmetrical floral design; most of embroidery in Roumanian couching or New England laid stitch; blue-green mound at bottom in center with three rows of pink and white flowers with thin black stems in stem stitch; two bunches of strawberries above in woven stitch; red and ink and blue, white and pink flowers outlined in stem stitch and filled in with Roumanian couching or New England laid stitch; two large blue-green, yellow, and pink leaves at bottom and one large dark blue and green leaf at center top have same stitches; pair of pink and white birds with yellow crests and blue-green tail feathers at top; (according to original description, possibly from the skirt or underskirt of dress embroidered in crewels).
