Ecclesiastical Costume. Epigonation, for Greek Orthodox Church. Large medallion bearing the twelve apostles seated side by side with washing basins (?) before their feet. In the foreground Jesus wearing a crown and holding a towel; in the background two classical-style builings and a radiant cloud. Greek inscriptions. Stylized, undulation, flowering stalk borders the medallion. A stylized symmetrical three blossom flower in each corner faces the medallion. outer border of similar undulating stalk. The heads and hands are worked in split stitch. Polychrome silk and metallic yarns on red silk ground.
