Wilhelm Eduard Drugulin (b. 1825 – d. 1879), Leipzig; December 1, 1879, posthumous Wilhelm Eduard Drugulin sale, C.G. Boerner, Lepizig, lot 1242, sold for RM 1455 (for the set of 50 prints). By 1887, Theodore Irwin (b. 1827 - d. 1902), Oswego, NY; 1900, sold by Theodore Irwin to Joseph F. Sabin and George H. Richmond (dealers), New York; 1900, sold by Irwin and Sabin to J. Pierpont Morgan (b. 1837 - d. 1913), New York [see note 2]; probably given by J. Pierpont Morgan to Junius Spencer Morgan (b. 1867 - d. 1932; Lugt 4791), New York. [1] Possibly one M. Clement, a print dealer who worked closely with Bibliothèque Nationale de France, of 3, rue des Saints-Pères, Paris.

[2] The sale of Irwin’s collection to Morgan was arranged and brokered by Joseph F. Sabin and George H. Richmond. Though Irwin was aware of the goal of selling to Morgan, it appears that the dealers took legal possession of the collection before re-selling it.
