Painted falcon. Colorful bird (black, red, green, yellow) mounted on thin base. On the bird’s back is a small sunburst [?] motif. Plaster much chipped. The base is split into two pieces; heavy layer of plaster and yellow paint extant but chipped.
Bird is W.175a, base is W.175b and W.175c.

By 1836: Robert Hay Collection, Linplum, Scotland; 1863: to his son, Robert James Alexander Hay; 1868-1872: Way Collection, Boston (purchased by Samuel A. Way through London dealers Rollin and Feuardent, 27 Haymarket); 1872: given to the MFA by Samuel's son, C. Granville Way.
