DescriptionCommemorative fan of Prince Charles Edward Stuart claiming inheritance of English crown in the second Jacobite Rebellion (1745). Engraved and hand-painted paper leaf. Prince attended by Mars (Cameron of Lochiel) and Bellona (Flora MacDonald) center; Fame crowns Prince, altar blazing with devoted hearts, Venus and Cupid seated on cloud, Britannia seated in attitude of grief left; Jupiter scattering Hanoverian faction, Rapine and Murder prostrate right. Nineteen carved ivory sticks, chinoiserie design painted on guards.
