Double paper leaf. Commemorative fan of first air balloon flight in England, 1783. Modified version of a 1754 engraving of Thomas Osborne’s country house: house and premises with coach in yard left and crowd right; balloon and inscription “A View of Mr. Biaggini’s grand Air Balloon” added, crowd and area behind altered. Bone sticks with painted and gilded (in 1750s?), medallion center blades and guards above shoulders (design obliterated). Steel ring added at later date.
