Single vellum leaf. “Robert Walpole’s Excise Tax”: parade of animals representing countries involved; followed by lion (England); reviewing stand left with four continents, bulldog tied to base; two horsemen left front; man with infant at portrait inscribed “Merrot” front center; horse and thrown rider front right; Gibraltar rear right; ships, orange sky, suns with faces center rear (represents Robert Walpole’s excise tax on wines and tobacco, October 23, 1738), signed “C. Mosley.” Carved wavy ivory sticks, mother-of-pearl rings on rivet, red paper box.
