Fashion plate illustrating nineteenth century women’s fashion. Three women entertain two children on a lavish patio setting. The women wear (from left to right) an ornate pale purple dress with purple ruffles, tiers and detailing, a cream dress with plack trim and large buttons on the chest, and a white dress with an assortment of ruffles and bows trimmed in copper. The little girls wear frilly dresses of white and pink or blue. “Mme Demorest’s Mirror of Fashions. / 838 Broadway N.Y. / August 1870”
