DescriptionPrinted and painted paper leaf. Obverse: two men and three women in 18th century pastoral setting, gilt chinoiserie-style decoration at sides and top. Reverse: two women with baskets and man in boat in Italian setting with buildings on shore, decorative gilt at sides and top. Green dyed feathers along top and on guards with white silk flowers (forming bouquet when closed). Carved ivory sticks in decorative motif, gilt decoration on guards with flirting mirror (obv.) and "Tassie" cameo (rev.). Mother-of-pearl buttons on rivet. Salmon silk and gilt tassel depends from decorative brass ring.
