Apollo’s hair is done in a knot on the top of the head, a style of wearing the hair known best from the Apollo Belvedere or the Apollo Giustiniani. His arms are broken off just below the shoulders. They were made separately and joined. Cast solid. Tiber (brownish yellow) patina.

By date unknown: Count Michel Tyszkiewicz Collection; by 1898: with Edward Perry Warren (according to his records he was told by Count Tyszkiewicz that this bronze had been found in Rome); 1898: purchased by MFA from Edward Perry Warren for $ 69,618.13 (this figure is the total price for MFA 98.641-98.940)
