The full, over-rich hair and beard, and mild face seem to suggest this is Poseidon. Right hand, left hand and arm are missing. The base is modern. Green patina.

By date unknown: with Edward Perry Warren (according to Warren's records: Described by Brunn in the Bulletino 1861, p. 85. . . . In Brunn's description this figure is stated to have been been found at Ancona, 1854, in making the foundations of the Campanile of the Cathedral. At the time of the description it was in the possession of Signor L. Saulini.); purchased by MFA from Edward Perry Warren, October 1896
