“Mandarin” style folding fan with short paper continuous leaf painted in brilliant greens and blues with series of court scenes showing figures both in landscape and interior settings wearing robes made of actual scraps of fabric and appliquéd faces of painted ivory. Sticks and guard are made of carved sandal wood showing figures, landscapes, and some architecture. Fan is stored in a black lacquered box with gold floral motifs.
